Plot
    The story covers the time period from prior to the First World War to the early 1950's
    and is told in flashbacks as well as following the characters in their current capacities.
    Dollie Stokesay is a free spirited and independent woman with romantic problems and a continuing relationship with the main character of the story, an archaeologist, with marital problems, who finds his career coming under threat over a disputed find.
